Our Future Direction

ECDO was formed in December 2002. Since then, ECDO has already achieved a great deal but there is still far more work that needs to be done.
From its inception, ECDO has formed its mission and vision from the opinions and needs of the indigenous people themselves. All of ECDO’s research and analysis is conducted in a participatory manner and ECDO is committed to rights-based development.
ECDO is constantly speaking and listening to the indigenous communities, and together they have developed the following targets for ECDO to aim towards.
- To provide the opportunity of formal education for every indigenous child in Sylhet region under the age of twelve by 2011.
- To provide the opportunity of income generating activities for all indigenous people in Sylhet region by 2011.
- To provide access to primary health service facilities for all by 2010.
- To provide a greater means for indigenous people to legally protect their property rights.
- To fight for the conservation and development of indigenous languages and culture.
- To provide the opportunity for health services, delivered by indigenous people for indigenous people in Sylhet.
